Two black devils leap across a red ground, and one of them has insect antennae. Leonetto Cappiello (1875 to 1942) designed the poster in 1907 for Fournier-Demars, the liqueur house in Saint-Amand-Montrond (Cher). Cappiello also used a green devil for Maurin Quina, though these two black figures give the Fournier design its own character.

On the poster

Two black-silhouetted devils bound across a saturated crimson ground. One clutches a small white product box, and the other curls a spade-tipped tail. Their pale, caricatured faces have rouged cheeks and red lips. A flowing cursive inscription fills the upper-left corner, and bold cream slab-serif capitals carry the brand name across the full width at the base.

Paper and print details

Good art deserves good paper.

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
