The woman raising a Royat bottle to her lips is drawn so pale against the blue that she reads as light. Leonetto Cappiello (1875 to 1942) designed the poster for Royat, a thermal resort in the Puy-de-Dôme, whose thermal springs had drawn visitors since Roman times. Its bottled water was marketed on the curative properties then attributed to radium.

The printer's line at the foot reads AFFICHES CAPPIELLO, ATELIER D'ART DEVAMBEZ, PARIS. Cappiello's signature and the date 1923 are at lower right.

On the poster

A white-robed woman raises a Royat spring-water bottle to her lips against a deep cobalt-blue ground. Her hair and gown trail outward in long curves, and she is drawn entirely in white and pale grey. Below the image, gold serif capitals read "ROYAT, C'EST LA SANTE, C'EST LA JEUNESSE, DANS UNE ATMOSPHERE DE RADIUM." (Royat is health, it is youth, in an atmosphere of radium.)

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
