A young woman smiles as she laces a vivid red corset. Leonetto Cappiello (1875 to 1942) designed the poster in 1901, and P. Vercasson & Cie, Paris, printed it as a colour stone lithograph. It was made for Corset Le Furet, a French corset brand. The Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya holds a printed copy, bought in 1903, and the Musée d’Orsay holds Cappiello's pastel design for the poster.
On the poster
A young woman turns inward on a flat chrome-yellow ground, smiling as she laces a vivid red corset across her waist, her white lace-trimmed chemise falling from one shoulder. There is no decorative surround. "CORSET LE FURET" is set below her in bold navy capitals. Across the top, the headline "HYGIENE, ELEGANCE, SOUPLESSE" spans the full width. The footer reads "Donne la Souplesse de l'Orientale avec la grâce Française." (Gives the suppleness of the Oriental woman with French grace.)
