The SS Rotterdam appears to glide through a globe showing the change from day to night. Eppo Doeve, a Dutch artist born in the Dutch East Indies in 1907, designed the poster in 1959 for Holland America Line. It promoted the line's flagship, the SS Rotterdam. Doeve became known for advertising illustrations and maritime posters.

On the poster

The ship cuts across a stylised globe that shows the change from day to night, against deep blue gradients and starlit skies. The French tagline reads "L'avenir...DES AUJOURD'HUI!" [the future... starting today!]

Paper and print details

Good art deserves good paper.

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
