Roger Broders made posters for the Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée railway over about ten years, and PLM paid for him to travel to the places he drew. Broders (1883 to 1953) designed this one for the PLM between 1930 and 1932. It promotes the mountainous interior behind the French Riviera coast, the Côte d'Azur hinterland.

On the poster

A mountain gorge opens between warm orange cliffs and reveals a medieval hilltop village crowned with an ancient tower. Snow-capped Alpine peaks rise beyond blue valleys in the distance. A vintage automobile winds along the cliff-edge road.

Each print begins with historic artwork, carefully restored using the latest digital tools and restoration techniques. Damage is addressed, colours refined and details recovered, while respecting the original composition, lettering and character.

The result? All the charm of the original, without having to live with its unfortunate accidents.

Paper and print details

Good art deserves good paper.

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
