A spectacular underwater coral reef scene rendered in vivid turquoise and orange, with tropical fish swimming among coral formations. Above the waterline, fishing boats rest on calm blue waters beneath palm trees.

Designed by Percy Trompf for the Queensland Government Tourist Bureau in 1933, this poster promoted Australia's Great Barrier Reef as a world-class travel destination. The split-level composition depicts both surface and depth, with the underwater wonderland dominating the frame in warm coral tones against deep ocean blues.

Trompf's modernist illustration style transforms marine biology into travel marketing poetry. His use of saturated colour and flowing organic forms created an inviting vision of tropical Australia that drew visitors during the 1930s tourism boom, when the reef was first being recognised as a natural wonder.

Restored as an archival print on fine art paper using museum-quality gicle printing.
