The O in GOLF is a hole in the green, and a white ball is balanced on its rim. Munetsugu Satomi (1904 to 1996) designed the poster around 1960. He came to Paris from Japan in 1922 and studied at the École des Beaux Arts. He worked briefly in Cassandre's studio. Cassandre's Nord Express (1927) joins rail track and bold lettering into one composition, and Satomi does the same thing with a golf course.

On the poster

Horizontal brushstroke gradients fill the sheet, acid chartreuse at the top and saturated mid-green below. The word "GOLF" is spelled in large block letters drawn as deep-green shadows lying flat on the turf, receding towards the upper right. The O in the centre is the hole, with a single white dimpled ball half over its edge.

Paper and print details

Good art deserves good paper.

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
