Vintage automobiles and motorcycles fill the exhibition hall in this 1925 poster for the RAI Amsterdam motor show. The composition centres on a stark blue speedometer gauge with classic cars and red motorcycles arranged around it, while snow-capped mountains rise behind the modernist exhibition building.
Designed by Jacob Jansma (1893-1972) for the RAI Amsterdam automobile and motorcycle exhibition, held 6-15 February 1925. The RAI Association, founded in 1893 as the Dutch bicycle and automobile industry trade body, commissioned this poster to promote their annual showcase of automotive innovations. Jansma's Art Deco design depicts the optimism of the machine age with geometric typography and streamlined forms.
The orange and blue palette reflects the modernist aesthetic of 1920s Dutch design, while the central speedometer motif symbolises the era's fascination with speed and mechanical precision. The poster represents a key moment when the automobile industry was establishing itself in the Netherlands.
This archival print preserves Jansma's lithographic technique, depicting the bold contrasts and flat colour areas that define the Art Deco poster style.
