A woman in flame-orange drapery holds a Premier Fils bottle up over a field of galloping racehorses. Robys (Robert Wolff) designed the poster in 1936. He also made a poster for the Kina Lillet aperitif in 1937. Premier Fils billed itself as "la vieille marque française".

On the poster

Three thoroughbreds run at full stretch, a jockey in black silks crouched low over the leading grey. Behind him an allegorical figure in a sweep of flame-orange drapery raises a Premier Fils bottle at upper right, its label clearly legible. The horses are charcoal grey against a near-white ground. Condensed crimson capitals on a heavy black panel below read "PREMIER FILS, LA VIEILLE MARQUE FRANÇAISE" [Premier Fils, the old French brand].

Each print begins with historic artwork, carefully restored using the latest digital tools and restoration techniques. Damage is addressed, colours refined and details recovered, while respecting the original composition, lettering and character.

The result? All the charm of the original, without having to live with its unfortunate accidents.

Paper and print details

Good art deserves good paper.

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
