Pneu Colonial 1910s

1910s

A track cyclist hoists a laurelled bicycle wheel overhead like a trophy, mid-shout, while Road-racers surge on behind. The brand is Pneu Colonial and the slogan is "Toujours Vainqueur" (Always the Winner). A small credit line inside the lower panel names the manufacturer and the city of Gand (Ghent). The printer's imprint in the margin names the Brussels lithographer De Rycker, of Bruxelles-Forest.

On the poster

The rider wears a sleeveless club jersey with a monogrammed badge and three red stars. Road-racers follow against a field of crimson and amber, and red flag-drapes frame the scene on either side. "Pneu Colonial" is set in bold white Art Nouveau capitals below, with "Toujours Vainqueur" in spaced lettering beneath it.

Each print begins with historic artwork, carefully restored using the latest digital tools and restoration techniques. Damage is addressed, colours refined and details recovered, while respecting the original composition, lettering and character.

The result? All the charm of the original, without having to live with its unfortunate accidents.

Paper and print details

Good art deserves good paper.

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
