Let's All Fight Buy War Bonds 1942

The poster leans on one word: ALL, in red italic.

It is printed in the same cadmium red as "BUY WAR BONDS" at the foot. The U.S. Government Printing Office produced it in 1942 for the Treasury Department (print designation WSS 508-D). It was one of many posters supporting the wartime bond drives, which ran as eight campaigns between 1942 and 1945. No artist is recorded.

Designer unknown. The Hoover Institution at Stanford, the V&A in London and the UNT World War Poster Collection hold copies.

On the poster

A helmeted US soldier charges forward, bayonet fixed, the dark navy ground behind him split by a shaft of white light. At his back, in cool monochrome blue-grey, is the American workforce: a woman and men at industrial machinery, smokestacks rising. The type reads "LET'S... Fight" in white sans-serif, "ALL" in cadmium red italic, and "BUY WAR BONDS" in heavy red slab-serif capitals across a cream band at the foot.
