Michel Liebeaux (1881 to 1923) made the poster around 1922. He signed his work "Mich". Born in Périgueux and trained in Nantes, he illustrated for the sports daily L'Auto and did advertising work for Citroën, Hutchinson tyres and several cycle makers.

On the poster

A caricature cyclist in a cap pushed back over goggles pilots a green-framed bicycle on the top rung of a yellow A-frame stepladder, front wheel tilting skyward. The background is flat cobalt-blue. Red-orange slab-serif at the base reads "LA BICYCLETTE J.B. LOUVET", and the yellow italic slogan at top right reads "Elle grimpe tout!" (It climbs everything.)

The result? All the charm of the original, without having to live with its unfortunate accidents.

Paper and print details

Good art deserves good paper.

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
