A wheel of Gruyère cheese and boxes of Elle & Vire butter products arranged against a saturated green background. The composition balances organic and geometric forms: the curved cheese wheel against the angular product packaging and scattered fresh eggs.

Designed by J. Bolot in 1953 for Elle & Vire, the Norman dairy cooperative founded by Auguste Grandin in 1945. The poster promoted the company's range of pasteurised butter and cheese products during France's post-war economic expansion, when cooperatives were modernising agricultural marketing.

Bolot employs lithographic printing to achieve flat, bold colours characteristic of 1950s commercial design. The green backdrop makes the cream and red tones of the dairy products particularly vibrant, creating an appetite appeal that defined mid-century French food advertising.

This archival reproduction depicts the optimism of 1950s consumer culture, when French cooperatives competed with sophisticated graphic design to establish their brands in expanding urban markets.
