A yellow devil holds a champagne bottle in one hand and a muselet tool in the other. Courtois designed the poster for Roger Desivry champagne, and La Lithographie Parisienne, Robin, Paris, printed it. This sheet dates to around 1930.

On the poster

A golden-yellow devil lunges diagonally across a dense black-green ground, one arm raised to thrust a labelled champagne bottle aloft, the other extending a wire muselet tool towards a foaming coupe at the edge of the frame. He has horns, pointed ears, rosy cheeks and a knowing grin. The picture is built on three colours: cadmium yellow, deep black-green and crimson red. Crimson all-caps lettering names the brand at the top, and "ÉPERNAY / FRANCE" is at lower left.

The result? All the charm of the original, without having to live with its unfortunate accidents.

Paper and print details

Good art deserves good paper.

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
