A woman bursts out of the neck of a foaming bottle while a silver cork shoots out of the frame. Jean de Paleologu, a Romanian-born poster artist, signed his work "PAL". He was active in Paris through the 1890s, working across theatre, cycling and consumer-goods advertising, and he left Paris for the United States in 1900.

The bottle's oval label names the product as Orbec Mousseux Ricolet.

On the poster

A blonde figure erupts from the neck of an amber bottle, arms raised and hair flung back, as the cork rockets diagonally out of the frame. "BOCK-ORBEC" arches across the top in bold red slab-serif, and white brush-script to the right reads "Boisson Cazeuse a la Mode" (fashionable fizzy drink). The footer warns "Se Mefier des Imitations" (beware of imitations). The picture is warm amber and orange in its lower two-thirds, cooling to a pale sage-green sky.

Paper and print details

Good art deserves good paper.

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
