The poster advertises Air France's Paris to Tokyo route and greets it with a branch of cherry blossom. Designer unknown.

On the poster

A cherry blossom branch fills the upper third in blush pink and white, its dark gnarled limbs cutting across a charcoal gradient sky. A silver-grey Lockheed Constellation banks just below the headline, the Air France Winged Horse emblem visible at its tail. Below, an amber and terracotta panorama opens out: a winding blue river bordered by willows, traditional red-roofed buildings on the left, snow-capped Mount Fuji at centre background and, in the lower right foreground, the vermilion eave of a lacquered pagoda.

At the foot, "PARIS – TOKIO" is set in broad white capitals, with the old French spelling.

Paper and print details

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
