A Boeing 314 Flying Clipper approaches a crystalline Hawaiian lagoon as passengers disembark to traditional lei greetings and island hospitality. The seaplane's elegant lines contrast with the lush tropical landscape of palm trees and vibrant hibiscus.
Designed by Paul George Lawler for Pan American Airways in 1938, this poster promoted the airline's revolutionary Boeing 314 'Honolulu Clipper' service. Only twelve of these magnificent flying boats were ever built, representing the pinnacle of luxury air travel before the war changed aviation forever.
Lawler's illustration depicts the romance of 1930s Pacific travel, when flying to Hawaii was an extraordinary adventure accessible to few. The composition balances technical precision in the aircraft rendering with tropical fantasy in the destination imagery.
Reproduced as an archival print on 200gsm Enhanced Matte Fine Art Paper using pigment-based inks.
