Air France Global Network 1948

A red seahorse sits at the centre of the world. It is the Air France logo, placed at the heart of a stylised blue globe that aircraft circle in orbital paths. Plaquet designed the poster, which Perceval of Paris printed, to promote the airline's global network. It is dated 1948 by one gallery and 1949 by another.

On the poster

White flight lines trace the orbits of the aircraft around the blue globe, forming a geometric pattern against a grey-blue sky. Global air routes are reduced to geometric form.

Each print begins with historic artwork, carefully restored using the latest digital tools and restoration techniques. Damage is addressed, colours refined and details recovered, while respecting the original composition, lettering and character.

The result? All the charm of the original, without having to live with its unfortunate accidents.

Paper and print details

Good art deserves good paper.

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.

Dimensions refer to the paper size, not necessarily the printed image. Original artwork proportions are preserved, so some prints will include white margins to avoid cropping or stretching the design.
