She pedals a racing bicycle and holds a whole motorcycle over her head, with a sky of loose brushwork behind her. Robert Gazay designed this poster for Terrot of Dijon, and the Atelier Joe Bridge in Paris printed the lithograph, about 1928. Terrot had been making bicycles at its Dijon factory since 1890 and built its first motorcycle in 1902.
Gazay worked regularly with the Atelier Joe Bridge, a Paris commercial lithography house active in the 1920s and 1930s.
On the poster
A red-haired allegorical figure with wind-blown robes pedals a racing bicycle across a swirling cobalt blue ground and lifts a yellow Terrot motorcycle in both arms. A solid black band along the bottom carries the name in sweeping red script, "Terrot", with a green drop-shadow beneath each letter. Below it, "DIJON" is set in upright green sans-serif.
