Soviet Voskhod-2 Spacewalk 1965

V. Ivanov1965

On 18 March 1965, Alexei Leonov floated free of the Voskhod-2 capsule for 12 minutes and 9 seconds. The poster shows that mission. It is attributed to V. Ivanov and dated 1965, but neither detail has been traced to a museum record.

On the poster

An orange-suited cosmonaut, CCCP helmet raised, arcs across a black starfield above the white hull of the Voskhod-2 capsule. A grey umbilical cord trails behind him, and Earth hangs blue in the bottom right. The colour is flat and saturated, black for the void, orange for the figure, blue for the lettering, with no gradients. Bold sky-blue Cyrillic reads "Во имя мира и прогресса!" (In the Name of Peace and Progress!).

Our restoration process

History has wrinkles. We have standards.

A century or two can be unkind to a poster. Folds, tears, stains, fading and the occasional indignity of terrible storage.

Each print begins with historic artwork, carefully restored using the latest digital tools and restoration techniques. Damage is addressed, colours refined and details recovered, while respecting the original composition, lettering and character.

The result? All the charm of the original, without having to live with its unfortunate accidents.

Paper and print details

Good art deserves good paper.

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
