Viktor Semyonovich Ivanov1960s

Viktor Semyonovich Ivanov (1909 to 1968), a Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Arts, won the USSR State Prize for poster art twice, in 1946 and 1949. He designed this poster for Izogiz, the Soviet state art publisher in Moscow, in the mid-1950s. This is a later edition.

On the poster

A gilded Lenin statue fills the right half of the sheet, arm extended in a forward-pointing gesture, against a flat cerulean blue ground. Bold white diagonal rays radiate from the upper right. At lower left, three lines of cadmium-red Cyrillic block capitals read "ПОБЕДА / КОММУНИЗМА / НЕИЗБЕЖНА" (The Victory of Communism Is Inevitable).

Paper and print details

Good art deserves good paper.

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
