Soviet Five Year Plan 1980

1980

Lenin was born on 22 April, and the 110th anniversary of his birth gave this poster its slogan. It belongs to the anniversary campaign of 1980, timed to line up individual worker productivity with the closing year of the USSR's Tenth Five-Year Plan, which ran from 1976 to 1980. The poster was produced in the Soviet Union around 1980.

Designer unknown.

On the poster

A worker in a navy coat stands in low-angle perspective, one fist thrust upward, before a vast crimson banner bearing Lenin's profile. White steel lattice construction pylons flank him and rise into a flat sky-blue ground. Across the left panel, bold Cyrillic translates as "Fulfil your personal five-year plan by the 110th anniversary of the birth of V.I. Lenin."

Our restoration process

History has wrinkles. We have standards.

A century or two can be unkind to a poster. Folds, tears, stains, fading and the occasional indignity of terrible storage.

Each print begins with historic artwork, carefully restored using the latest digital tools and restoration techniques. Damage is addressed, colours refined and details recovered, while respecting the original composition, lettering and character.

The result? All the charm of the original, without having to live with its unfortunate accidents.

Paper and print details

Good art deserves good paper.

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
