The Rolex logo has a crown, so the poster gives the watch to a king. Herbert Leupin (1916 to 1999) designed the poster for Rolex in 1959. Leupin was Basel-trained and had studied in Paris under Paul Colin. He ran his own studio from 1937 and worked for the Swiss Post Office (PTT) and the Eptinger mineral water company.

On the poster

A pink, loosely painted hand rises from a voluminous red robe with ermine-spotted white trim, its index finger pointing at the Rolex crown above. At the wrist, a gold-yellow Rolex watch sits at the centre of the frame. The brand name is in green capitals, and the ground is flat black.

Each print begins with historic artwork, carefully restored using the latest digital tools and restoration techniques. Damage is addressed, colours refined and details recovered, while respecting the original composition, lettering and character.

The result? All the charm of the original, without having to live with its unfortunate accidents.

Paper and print details

Good art deserves good paper.

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
