An alpine valley unfolds through a frame of towering purple pine trees, their dark silhouettes creating a natural window to the golden peaks beyond. The Massif de la Vanoise rises in warm orange and yellow tones, while the village of Pralognan nestles in the valley below with its distinctive red-roofed houses.
Commissioned by the Paris-Lyon-Mditerrane railway company around 1925, this poster promoted travel to the Tarentaise region of the French Alps. The PLM pioneered luxury mountain tourism, connecting Paris to alpine destinations through their expanding rail network during the golden age of railway travel.
The composition demonstrates the confident graphic style of 1920s French travel advertising. Bold perspective draws the viewer through the forest frame toward the spectacular mountain landscape, rendered in the flat colour blocks characteristic of period lithography.
A natural choice for those drawn to vintage railway art, French Alpine heritage, or the sophisticated design language of interwar travel advertising. Printed as an archival fine art print on 200gsm Enhanced Matte paper.
