She is dyeing everything at once. A smiling woman in Alsatian costume spreads her arms and pulls lengths of blue, red and green cloth out of a row of wooden tubs. Albert Dorfinant, who signed as "Dorfi", designed the poster, and J.E. Goossens of Brussels lithographed it in the 1920s or 1930s. Her dress is the regional costume of Alsace-Lorraine: ochre shawl, white apron, black cap with a tricolour cockade.

Alsace-Lorraine had returned to France in 1918. The lettering reads "Teint tous tissus".

On the poster

The fabrics fall in broad flat planes of colour: cobalt blue to her left, cadmium red and forest green to her right. The tubs below hold dye baths in yellow and blue. The French text means "dyes all fabrics".

Each print begins with historic artwork, carefully restored using the latest digital tools and restoration techniques. Damage is addressed, colours refined and details recovered, while respecting the original composition, lettering and character.

The result? All the charm of the original, without having to live with its unfortunate accidents.

Paper and print details

Good art deserves good paper.

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
