Vladimir Kalensky (1920 to 2012) was a muralist and poster artist who joined the Artists' Union in 1957. A Kalensky poster with this slogan was published in Moscow by Sovetskii Khudozhnik, the publishing house that mainly served the Artists' Union, in 1966.

On the poster

Lenin fills the foreground in high-contrast black and white, right fist raised, a red carnation at his lapel. Sweeping cadmium-red banners arc behind him in bold diagonal curves, and three groups of marching soldiers and workers recede into the background in monochrome. White bold capitals in the upper-right quadrant read "Да здравствует социалистическая революция!" (Long Live the Socialist Revolution!).

Each print begins with historic artwork, carefully restored using the latest digital tools and restoration techniques. Damage is addressed, colours refined and details recovered, while respecting the original composition, lettering and character.

The result? All the charm of the original, without having to live with its unfortunate accidents.

Paper and print details

Good art deserves good paper.

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
