Designed by Damiano Damiani in 1949 and printed by Officine Grafiche Necchi in Milan, the poster belongs to Italy's post-war commercial advertising tradition, in which product campaigns were handed to trained illustrators rather than photographers. Damiani had studied at the Accademia di Brera and was active as a graphic illustrator in Milan in the late 1940s. The Necchi print house was an established Milan offset lithographer, producing large-format commercial sheets for the Italian consumer market through this period.
The composition is a study in contrast: the caricature warmth of the central figure, the saturated cadmium red of her dress and headscarf, and the glowing amber of the globe all read vividly against the unlit black ground. The typography does the heavy lifting at the base of the sheet, balancing display weight with the light cursive of the product tagline.
This vintage advertising poster resonates with collectors of Italian graphic design, mid-century commercial illustration, and the broader history of Italian consumer culture from the reconstruction years.
