The balloon tyre has become a balloon. A giant Goodrich tyre floats in a purple-maroon sky on wire stays, and a yellow racing car with small green aeroplane wings speeds beneath it. Garcigoy designed the poster in 1925 for Goodrich-Colombes, the French subsidiary of the American B.F. Goodrich Company.

Imprimerie Moullot of Marseille and Paris lithographed it. The Souple Corde Ballon was a balloon-section, low-pressure tyre.

On the poster

A giant Goodrich Souple Corde Ballon tyre, its silver sidewall lettered with the product name, is held aloft by wire stays above a green French landscape. Below, a streamlined yellow open-top racing automobile speeds along with two occupants in goggles and a chequered driving cap. Small green aeroplane wings are fitted to the rear. Bold slab-serif lettering at the base reads "Le Ballon / Goodrich" (The Balloon / Goodrich) in cadmium orange-red on cream.

The Moullot imprint and the Goodrich-Colombes registration run along the foot.

Paper and print details

Good art deserves good paper.

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
