Elastic Sommier 1922

Souple, Silencieux, Solide: the bed-base gets three adjectives in a column, and the elephant gets the rest of the sheet. The poster is credited to Viano, with the imprint of Imprimerie Moullot of Marseille, and is dated 1922. The Elastic sommier was an all-steel spring bed-base, and buyers were told to insist on the Elastic mark.

On the poster

A lime-green elephant with white tusks and a red mouth rears above the Elastic all-steel bed-base on a flat black ground, Speed-lines radiating from it in every direction. The left column reads "Souple, Silencieux, Solide" (supple, silent, solid). Text on the poster also says "Exiger la marque Elastic fixee ici" (demand the Elastic mark fixed here). An Art Deco logotype cartouche sits in the upper right, and cursive script runs across the product itself.

Paper and print details

Good art deserves good paper.

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
