The magician has a crystal ball. The devil behind him has the whole middle of the sheet. Dantes Mysterier was produced by AB Svensk Filmindustri and directed by Paul Merzbach. It was released on 23 February 1931. Dante the Magician was Harry August Jansen, born in Copenhagen, who was given the name Dante by Howard Thurston in 1922. Zarah Leander is on the cast list, in her first screen appearance.
The SF logo and the words "Ljud och Talfilm" [Sound and talking film] place it in Svensk Filmindustri's early sound film period. The poster was printed by J. Olsén litogr.anst. No poster artist is credited on the sheet.
On the poster
A conjurer in a tuxedo stands over a glowing crystal ball, both hands spread flat as if commanding the air. Behind him a flat vermilion devil with horns and clawed arms stretches wide across the centre. The ground is black. Across the top, cadmium yellow three-dimensional letters spell "DANTES MYSTERIER", each with a powder blue shadow block behind it. Four portrait heads sit at the lower left, and a blonde, curly-haired woman holds the centre foreground.
