A woman in a white apron opens the door of a cream upright gas range; copper pots and a brass kettle steam on the hob above, and a young girl in red bends at her feet to touch a black rabbit balanced on a yellow duck toy. The floor is a red-and-white chequerboard. The headline 'Avec la CUISINIÈRE A GAZ.....' runs across the top; the tagline 'C'EST RÉUSSI A CHAQUE FOIS!!!', It Works Every Time, anchors the base. Steam curls into a warm, cream-toned background.
The poster was designed by Albert Dorfinant, who worked under the pseudonym Dorfi, and printed by Affiches Camis in Paris. Auction records at Swann Galleries and PosterConnection date it to around 1920–1922. Dorfinant (1881–1976) was a prolific Parisian commercial lithographer whose figurative style drew on the warm, character-led domestic illustration of the Belle Époque while remaining legible and persuasive to a broad public. Gas cooking was still spreading through French households in this period, and the campaign's tagline does the work of reassurance: the new technology, the poster insists, produces reliable, repeatable results.
This design sits within the figurative domestic advertising tradition that ran alongside the more geometric commercial work of the 1920s, and the warmth of the colour palette, the copper cookware, and the child-and-rabbit detail give it an enduring appeal beyond its original context.
Reproduced as a giclée print on 200gsm Enhanced Matte Fine Art Paper, from a restored archival source. A considered choice for a kitchen, dining room, or any space where early twentieth-century French commercial art sits well.
