Remington began with firearms and branched into typewriter manufacture in the 1870s. Cappiello was born in Livorno in 1875 and settled in Paris in 1898. He made the poster in 1910, and by then his method was fixed: a bold figure isolated against a dark ground.

On the poster

A red-haired woman leans into a black Remington typewriter. Typed sheets spiral outward from the keys across a deep brown-black ground, pale blue-white paper arcing from the desk to the upper corners. Bold golden-yellow lettering runs across the base.

Each print begins with historic artwork, carefully restored using the latest digital tools and restoration techniques. Damage is addressed, colours refined and details recovered, while respecting the original composition, lettering and character.

The result? All the charm of the original, without having to live with its unfortunate accidents.

Paper and print details

Good art deserves good paper.

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
