Cappiello puts a red devil in charge of the lighting. A ring of bulbs surrounds him on black. Leonetto Cappiello (1875 to 1942) designed the poster in 1910 and Vercasson of Paris lithographed it for Fabius Henrion, the Nancy electrical equipment company. Cappiello had been under contract to Vercasson since 1900.

On the poster

A grinning red devil encircles himself with a ring of incandescent bulbs on a black ground. His antennae arc up toward bold golden-yellow lettering: "LAMPE OSMINE". Below it, in plain roman capitals: "FABIUS HENRION. NANCY." Red italic serif at the foot gives a Paris depot address.

Paper and print details

Good art deserves good paper.

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
