Cappiello Cacao Poulain 1905

Leonetto Cappiello1905

A child in a red suit is flooding the world with chocolate, and the slogan says so. Leonetto Cappiello designed the poster for Poulain, the French chocolate manufacturer.

On the poster

A child in a red suit sits on top of a green teaching globe and pours chocolate from an enormous yellow can. The background is deep blue. Bold yellow lettering reads "Le Cacao Poulain inonde le monde" (Poulain cocoa floods the world).

Our restoration process

History has wrinkles. We have standards.

A century or two can be unkind to a poster. Folds, tears, stains, fading and the occasional indignity of terrible storage.

Each print begins with historic artwork, carefully restored using the latest digital tools and restoration techniques. Damage is addressed, colours refined and details recovered, while respecting the original composition, lettering and character.

The result? All the charm of the original, without having to live with its unfortunate accidents.

Paper and print details

Good art deserves good paper.

Each poster is printed to order using professional giclée printing techniques and archival pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte fine art paper.

The natural white, smooth matte finish reduces glare while bringing out rich colours and crisp detail. The inks are designed for excellent lightfastness, helping the artwork retain its colour for years to come.
