A civilian in a brown suit holds two war bonds while an American soldier fires his M1 carbine in the background. The poster reads 'They also serve, who buy WAR BONDS - 7th WAR LOAN' in bold red typography against a cream background.
Commissioned by the US Treasury Department for the 7th War Loan drive in May 1945, designed by Philip Lyford (1887-1950). Lyford was a prominent magazine illustrator and commercial artist who created imaginative advertising and patriotic war bond posters throughout WWII.
The 7th War Loan was the final and most successful bond drive of the war, raising a record $26 billion. This poster demonstrates the home front's contribution to the war effort, visually linking civilian financial support to military action on the battlefield.
Reproduced as an archival print on 200gsm Enhanced Matte Fine Art Paper using pigment-based inks for museum-quality preservation.
