A white-uniformed chef carries two golden waffles against a black background, his red face beaming with pride. The elegant script 'dessert de choix!' curves above the composition, while bold yellow letters announce RITA below.
Designed by Léon Dupin in 1933 for Rita, a waffle company based in Roubaix, northern France. Dupin was a self-taught illustrator who became one of France's most celebrated commercial artists, working frequently with printer Joseph-Charles in Paris where this lithograph was produced.
The poster depicts the optimism of 1930s French advertising, when the Art Deco movement brought geometric precision and bold colour to commercial design. The stark contrast between the chef's pristine white uniform and the inky background creates visual impact that remains fresh nearly a century later.
A natural choice for anyone drawn to French culinary history or Art Deco graphic design. Restored from archival source and printed on 200gsm Enhanced Matte Fine Art Paper.
