A chef in white uniform emerges from blue ocean waves, carrying a bright red fish and steaming scallop, with a basket of oysters balanced on his head. The composition celebrates the ocean-to-table freshness that made Prunier legendary.
Designed by Pierre Falizé (1876-1953) in 1928 for the celebrated Parisian seafood restaurant at 16 Avenue Victor Hugo. The poster advertises Prunier's quick delivery service with bold Art Deco lettering declaring 'Livre Vite et Bien' (delivers fast and well). The seasonal note 'Fin Août à Mi-Juin' refers to the traditional R-month oyster season.
Falizé depicted the playful confidence of 1920s French culinary advertising. Prunier had grown from a simple oyster bar in 1872 to serve over 17,000 oysters daily by this period, attracting American and Russian clientele when oysters were still exotic to French diners.
Reproduced as an archival print on 200gsm Enhanced Matte Fine Art Paper. The vibrant yellow, red and blue palette grounds a kitchen or dining room with authentic French culinary heritage.
