A World's Fair guide in a cobalt-blue uniform raises her right arm before the glowing Trylon and Perisphere, as fireworks burst across an amber sky above Flushing Meadows. Binder renders the crowd, pavilion buildings, and pennant flags in the receding middle ground, holding the eye on the figure's broad smile and upraised hand. The bold golden-yellow headline type and the dark navy '1939' numerals frame the composition top-and-centre, anchored by the luminous Perisphere sphere behind the figure's head.

Joseph Binder (1898–1972) produced this poster as part of a series commissioned for the New York World's Fair Corporation, printed by Grinnell Litho Co., New York, 1939. Born in Vienna and trained at the Kunstgewerbeschule, Binder had won first prize in the fair's open poster competition the previous year with his searchlight-and-skyline design. This figurative companion piece from the same series uses the fair's official blue-and-orange palette to centre a human face on the 'Building the World of Tomorrow' theme, offering a personal welcome where the competition winner offered spectacle. Both designs are held in the Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division and the New York Public Library Manuscripts and Archives Division.

Reproduced from archival sources on 200gsm Enhanced Matte Fine Art Paper with pigment-based archival inks. The matte finish holds the cobalt blues and amber golds of Binder's airbrush-smooth lithographic palette without surface glare.

A natural fit for collectors of American Art Deco graphic design and students of the 1939 World's Fair visual programme.
