A Chinese oil worker in thick winter coat and fur hat operates bright red industrial machinery against a snowy backdrop. Behind him, oil drilling equipment towers against the winter sky while fellow workers tend to the industrial apparatus.
Designed during the 1970s as part of China's Learn from Daqing campaign. The Daqing Oilfield in Heilongjiang Province became a national model in 1964 when Mao Zedong issued the call ????? - 'In industry, learn from Daqing.' The campaign promoted industrial self-reliance and the socialist work ethic through harsh winter conditions.
The poster exemplifies Chinese Socialist Realist style with its heroic worker figure, saturated red palette, and industrial iconography. The composition contrasts the warmth of Communist resolve against the cold challenges of northern China's oil fields.
Reproduced as an archival print on 200gsm Enhanced Matte Fine Art Paper using pigment-based inks.
