The inner courtyard of Chteau de Blois rises before you in golden light, its famous Renaissance spiral staircase commanding the left side of the composition. Blue-roofed chteau buildings frame a cream courtyard where small figures in period dress move through the space, while birds wheel overhead.
Designed by Constant Duval for the Chemin de Fer d'Orlans around 1910-1915, part of France's railway poster campaign to promote travel to the Loire Valley's royal chteaux. The composition depicts the chteau that hosted seven kings and ten queens, displaying four centuries of French architecture in a single courtyard.
Duval specialized in railway travel posters from 1910 until the nationalization of French railways in 1937. His architectural precision combined with the warmth that made distant destinations feel accessible to travelers.
Reproduced as an archival print using pigment-based inks on 200gsm Enhanced Matte Fine Art Paper.
