A woman's hand holds a photograph of a soldier mounted on a camel, beside a stack of airmail letters bound with red ribbon against a bright yellow background.

Commissioned by the Commonwealth Advertising Division in 1941, this recruitment poster appeals to the emotional bond between servicemen and their loved ones at home. The AIF (Australian Imperial Force) served overseas in North Africa, the Middle East, Greece and Crete before returning to defend Australia against Japan.

The poster combines photography with bold sans-serif typography in the modernist wartime communication style. High contrast yellow and red create visual impact while the central photograph emphasises personal connection through correspondence.

Restored from archival sources as a fine art print on 200gsm Enhanced Matte paper using archival inks.
