A Junkers F 13 seaplane banks over Stockholm's recognizable skyline, the Royal Palace and City Hall tower rendered in clean modernist lines against a gradient blue sky. Designed by Anders Beckman for A-B Aerotransport circa 1930, when Sweden's pioneering airline operated seaplanes between Stockholm and Helsinki before land airports were established.
Beckman studied at Stockholm's University College of Arts, Crafts and Design from 1927-1930, joining ABA as his first major commission. His approach combines photographic accuracy with geometric stylization, reflecting European modernist influences while maintaining distinctly Scandinavian restraint. The bold sans-serif typography and balanced composition demonstrate the emerging Swedish design principles that would shape commercial art throughout the century.
A-B Aerotransport was founded in 1924 by military aviators Carl and Adrian Florman, becoming the foundation of what would eventually merge into SAS Scandinavian Airlines. This poster represents both the golden age of travel and the formative years of Swedish graphic design.
Produced as an archival print on 200gsm Enhanced Matte Fine Art Paper, preserving the subtle color gradations and crisp typography that made Beckman's work influential in the development of airline advertising design.
