The anthropomorphised citrus mascot, helmeted, grinning, happily self-serving, belongs to the tradition of character-led French advertising that Cappiello had established in the preceding decade, here rendered with a Roman-soldier conceit that plays on the brand name.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe 'd'après Deram' notation on the original lithograph identifies the artist as Deram, a Parisian commercial poster designer of the period.
