Cappiello had by then developed the bold-figure-on-black technique he had been refining since his contract with Paris printer Vercasson in 1900. The choice of Father Time, the classical figure whose winged form embodies the passage of time, was precisely calibrated to the product. The design was sufficiently well regarded to be noted by name in a December 1913 essay in Le Monde Illustré, and the composition was reprinted in multiple format variants into the 1920s. The Bibliothèque nationale de France holds two sizes in its collection.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis archival print is reproduced from a digitally restored source on 200gsm Enhanced Matte Fine Art Paper, using pigment-based inks.
